Fiver from Home  - supported in Wales by Principality Building Society

The Fiver from Home project is a fun way for pupils (5-11) to imagine what business they could create with just a £5 note.

During the project pupils will use the workbook to complete activities such as creating a business name and logo, doing remote market research, planning their products/service and finishing with writing and presenting a sales pitch to someone in their house.

In 2020 over 7,200 young people completed the Fiver from Home project in Wales alone.

How does it work?

The project is designed to be completed with minimal supervision and in a flexible way - easily fitting in with any home-schooling schedule. We have provided everything you need for your pupils to take part, including:

  • Fiver from Home Workbook
  • Word guide
  • Top tips for Logos
  • Remote Market Research Survey Template
  • Top tips for parents
  • Fiver from Home Checklist

Why get involved?

Fiver from Home helps pupils to develop key skills, including:

  • Creativity
  • Communication – written and verbal
  • Planning and organisation
  • Problem solving
  • Commercial awareness

Once they complete the workbook and activities, they even get a participation certificate to celebrate their achievement!

Fiver from Home is also available in the Welsh language thanks to our 3-year partnership with Principality Building Society – a partnership that will see us work collaboratively to ensure that more schools and pupils across Wales get the chance to gain these valuable entrepreneurial skills.

This project can be used as a way to develop entrepreneurial skills at home and also as a way for your young people to make a start on their Fiver business before the start of the Fiver Challenge in the summer.
